The Maryland Family Stories Project 2012

The PFLAG chapters of Maryland are asking parents, grandparents, siblings and other family members and allies with LGBT friends to write letters about how your gay, lesbians, bisexual and transgender family members and friends have been discriminated against and how this discrimination negatively affects your family. We are asking you to talk about how passing the Marriage Equality and the Gender Identity bills in Maryland will positively impact your family.

PFLAG Baltimore County is taking the lead on this project, but we are hoping to include stories from all over Maryland. If you live outside the Baltimore or Washington DC metro areas you are especially encouraged to write a letter. We hope to dispel the widely held notion that we do not have support on the Eastern Shore or western Maryland.

We are asking you to make a small donation to defray the cost of printing these letters as a booklet and distributing the booklets to our legislators. If you cannot make a donation please write your letter anyway.

Please contribute what you can today. Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians, Gays Thanks you.

If you think this project is as important as we do we ask that you email your letter to:  PFLAGbaltimorecounty@gmail.com

To Fund the printing we are asking YOU to make a donation

Pink House Coffee - Model Pattern

As promised here is the model pattern.

Using a drafting program called MicroStation this took about 20 minutes of my lunch hour yesterday.

I will layout these parts on a 1/4" thick piece of foam core to begin.

Pink House Coffee - Model

This is a work in progress. It will be added to. designed, redesigned and reworked until it is right.

You are encouraged to let me know if the process is instructive.

The image is a Photoshop colorized image that has since become the label for one of our coffee brands at Homeland Organic

My favorite thing about this image is the air conditioners hanging out the side windows.

This step by step process will reveal my scattered approach and how it falls in place at the end .

This next picture is of the first form made from my imagination without looking at the photo. As it turns out the proportions are out of whack and and so I've decided to do this from a construction plan. I will post that tomorrow.

Follow along for the next few blog posts to see how it looks at the end.

Marriage Equality in Maryland

Many people in Maryland and across this country believe THIS is the year that a Marriage Equality Bill will pass in the Maryland legislature.

An anti-Equality group has already mobilized in our state. THEY ARE AFRAID that our legislature, which is more heavily Democratic than it has been in years, will pass a marriage bill this year. We in the LGBT community are more excited than ever before. We have momentum with us and it is growing.

PFLAG Baltimore County working cooperatively with Equality Maryland and a representative will present a discussion about Marriage Equality and the work that needs to be done in the next 90 days. Please come and listen. If you can help once or twice for an hour in the next few weeks (even in a minor way) you can be part of this CIVIL RIGHTS HISTORY.

Many Maryland voters, some from your district, have been part of “Lobby Day” in Annapolis for the past few years. We meet with our delegates and senators in a group from our district to discuss our support for LGBT civil equality. We need your help if you have done this before and we need your help even if all you do is come with us to help fill the room. If this is your first time you do not need to speak unless you want to. We need to fill our delegate’s offices with supporters.

I would like to personally and publically thank everyone who has been a part of this effort in the past and invite you to join us this year. This is urgent and more important than ever.

The PFLAG meeting will be held at Towson Unitarian Universalist Church on January 25 at 7pm, & Lobby Day will be held in Annapolis on February 14th.
